Fishing Guide Services

Timber Trails Resort is excited to announce this new service to our resort and lake guests offered by Jonathan Plankers.

A little about our lake:

Big Boy Lake is a 3,452-acre lake that has 26.2 miles of shoreline, a maximum depth of 45 feet and great clarity.  Walleye are abundant in Big Boy Lake with the average length at 15 inches, as well as Northern Pike.  Other fish species that are available for anglers to catch are Bass, Northern, Crappie, Bluegill, and even some Muskies. No aquatic invasive species or special restrictions.

The lake is a fisherman’s dream that is filled with an abundance of fishing structure like shallow bays, large points, rock humps, weed lines, deep water and shallow water.  Boy Lake has direct access to Swift Lake which offers up more opportunity for great crappie fishing. There is no shortage of fishing locations.

A little more about Jonathan:
My name is Jonathan Plankers. I am currently a student at Bemidji State University.  I plan on graduating with a Business Management major.  My goal is to manage/own a business that has a focus on the outdoors.  I am on the BSU fishing team and absolutely love being a part of it, and all the opportunity’s that it has given me.

I have a great respect for the outdoors.  I’ve been fishing and hunting for most of my life.  When I was younger, my family used to vacation at Timber Trails Resort.  My first fishing started right here at the resort. When my parents fell in love with Boy Lake back in 2000, they bought a cabin on the north side of the lake.  Little did they know back then, the fishing spark they lit inside of me!

When it comes to fishing, I love to catch everything whether it is bass, walleye, pan fish, northern, or even Muskie.  I’ve been very fortunate to be able to fish this lake for most of my life.

Fishing is my passion and when I’m not working at the resort, there is a very good chance that you could find me on the lake fishing for just about anything.  I want to provide a great experience for people that have been fishing for years, or if it’s your first time, I’d love to see you catch your first fish on Boy Lake!
